Rio de Corazon: A Festival Celebrating the Rio Grande: Workshops and Panels

Saturday, April 02, 2011

Voices from the American Land, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center, will sponsor a free festival of lectures, workshops, readings, discussions, and other activities all aimed at better understanding this magnificent landscape we call home. The keynote event Friday night at 7pm is a reading and conversation by Albuquerque poet E.A. "Tony" Mares, who will present and discuss his new chapbook of poems, "Rio del Corazon". He'll be joined by young poets of the region and accompanied by music from Frank McCulloch y Sus Amigos. Saturday night at 7pm, poets Levi Romero, Sara Marie Ortiz, and Sawnie Morris will perform poetry that addresses the physical and cultural landscape of the river. All day Saturday and Sunday, the public is invited to choose from a host of different presentations and activities related to the Rio Grande Corridor.
