"Arcadia" by Tom Stoppard mixes science with history and literature like many of Stoppard's hit plays ("Travesties,") and his screenplay for "Shakespeare in Love." It presents a puzzle for the audience. This intriguing and often hilarious drama depicts a 200 year old "Cold Case" that a modern writer and critic attempt to solve using unreliable documents. Their conclusions are far from accurate. We know this because the actual events of 1809 alternate on stage with the much later interpretations set in the present day.
